OmbudsDay 2026

8 October is International Ombuds Day.

What are the Ombudsman’s responsibilities?

Our role is to provide free assistance to citizens and businesses in the event of a dispute with a state or local authority.

In cases falling within our comptence we seek to resolve disputes by acting as a neutral and independent intermediary between the authorities and the individuals concerned.

The Luxembourg Ombudsman is also responsible for monitoring the various places where people are deprived of their liberty (e.g. prisons).

If you need our help, please contact us by email at info@ombudsman.lu or by telephone on +352 26 27 01 01
