New recommendation from the Ombudsman on the right to make a mistake

With the accelerating pace of digitalisation, administrative procedures are becoming increasingly digital, particularly through the use of online forms. Whilst this can save time, it also increases the risk of errors if you tick the wrong box or fill in a form incorrectly. Such errors can have serious consequences, such as losing benefits. In Belgium and France, there is a ‘right to make a mistake’, which, under certain conditions, allows citizens to correct an error without facing any negative consequences. The Ombudsman would like to see such a right also examined and, if possible, implemented in Luxembourg. He has drawn up a new recommendation to this effect for the attention of the government and parliament.
